The Final
Brian The Winner with 60.3% of vote to win against Amanda and Sam

Essex boy Brian has won Big Brother 8, saying it was "the best day of his life" and he couldn't wait to go and buy some cider. The 20-year-old, who burst into tears when his name was announced, left the house to explosions of fireworks and rapturous cheers after winning 60.3 per cent of the vote for the final two places.
He told Davina he didn't know why he'd won, adding: "I'm just dopey, I say things and I shouldn't be saying them." Brian said he would give the £100,000 prize money to his adoptive mum "to look after" and stop him spending it all. An avid fan of the series, Brian said Big Brother was "the best show" on TV because "I like real stuff and it's like real people".
The data entry clerk, who celebrated his birthday in the house, admitted his kiss with Amanda had been "pukka" and added he understood why she didn't want to start a relationship, saying it was up to Amanda whether anything happened outside. Quizzed by Davina on whether he now knew who Shakespeare was, Brian said: "He's the director which directed Romeo and Juliet cos Gerry told me." He struggled to pick his best moment from the 13 weeks saying: "There was so many good times, but there was so much rowing and looking at you and giving you screw faces."
One of the later arrivals, Brian was delighted to join a house full of girls and nattered excitedly about group showers and three-in-a-bed action. His sweetly gullible ways endeared him to the housemates from the start. When Seany told him there was no electricity in Wales, Brian said: "Really? Shut up. I was told that was the place to go!" At first he struggled with the concept of washing his own clothes, moaning: "It's hard. It's a harsh time to live in." He also found it hard to adjust to the tension in the house when Charley was there, saying: "You don't come here for the drama. You come here for a good time. You don't come here for all the politics in this house."
He was delighted by the arrival of 'Australian housemate' Pauline, and was completely taken in by the actress. On his birthday, Big Brother let him in on the secret - and he could barely believe his ears. Luckily he managed to keep it to himself for long enough to earn a boozy birthday knees-up to see off his teenage years.
Brian made no secret of the fact that he was a massive Big Brother fan - and that he even owned the board game. He reckoned he was even making history as a contestant, and that he had studied the show as part of his media studies college course. Life was never short of laughs with him around, even when he was forced to reattach hundreds of kernels to a corn on the cob. "This is like being in prison," he said, looking at the piles of little yellow corn kernels. "Oh this is hard, look I'm cock-handed!" "Cack-handed," corrected Carole.
Brian had a soft spot for Amanda from the word go, and jumped at the chance to kiss her after a boozy night in. Afterwards he said: "I waited eight weeks for that." Then, while they were alone, he said the 'L' word. "I love you," he claimed. "You've been here through every minute of the way in this house, when I've been upset." He was later left devastated when the blonde told him she just wanted to be friends.
Brian was up for the public vote for the first time when housemates decided Tracey was more worthy of Soul Guru status and left him vulnerable to the public. He admitted he was looking forward to the high life when he leaves though. "I'd like to go to really good parties," he enthused. "That's the whole point of being famous. I'd meet people about my age and have nights like this."
It seems the public decided that Brian's party lifestyle starts here...
Amanda and Sam 2nd Place with 39.7% of the vote to win against Brian

Sam Marchant and her twin Amanda have become the joint runner-ups in Big Brother 8 after winner Brian. The 19-year-olds screamed when Davina announced Brian had won before hugging him and saying: "Well done!"
In their hyper exit interview, Sam told Davina that they never argue with anyone, adding: "I'm scared to argue." Asked what makes them angry, the twins said in unison: "Spiders!" The sisters said they were "so proud" of Brian and were glad that during their time in the house, they had learnt how to make couscous! One half of the "twincredible" duo with Amanda - the first ever twins on the show - Sam's first words on joining the house were: "Oh my God, love it!" Sam is the quieter but more level-headed of the pair, but lives by the philosophy: "Girls should never have to pay for their drinks." Her reason for joining BB was that "everyone gets a tan".
The twins' apparent girlie innocence proved popular in the house from the start, although some have been suspicious. Charley commented on Day 36: "They play like they're innocent - they're not that naive. They're lazy and they eat a lot. Lately they have been so girly." The twins were popular from the outset, but Sam has not had a completely easy ride. Stealing chocolate alongside her sister, and having her request for alcohol turned down on their 19th birthday were among some of the rare difficult moments - as well as a few punishments for discussing nominations. Throughout her stay in the house, Sam has been somewhat overshadowed by her louder sister's antics, and by Week 8, On The Couch psychologist Corinne Sweet said the differences began to emerge between the duo. She said: "Sam... has darker hair, a smaller mouth and this week has been grumpier. "Although both are united in their dislike of Carole's motherly ways, she has generally been the darker twin, even getting annoyed!"
The housemates might have thought differently though. Carole said to Ziggy: "It's funny, most of the guys in here, if they've had a preference, they've preferred Sam." Viewers might not be able to tell them apart, but the differences started to show for the housemates. "Sam's actually stripped herself of most of the make-up and most of the girly stuff, and has quite good conversations with most of the people in here," said Carole.
Although five minutes younger than her sister, student Amanda is the more dominant of the pair. But the twins made clear from the start: "If there's only one fit boy in the house we'll share him, definitely!"
The pair are so close that they have even claimed to have had the same dream in the house. The picture of niceness, one of their naughtiest move had been to steal chocolate together from the kitchen.
Amanda and Sam's popularity in the house was evident early on, when Gerry and Seany chose the twosome to join them on the Nominations Board, to decide who would be up for eviction.
Gerry pointed out: "Honesty and innocence are very, very good strengths and if we can say for certain that anyone doesn't have a game plan, it's the twins."
But Amanda hasn't had a completely easy ride. After Carole declared she had the deadly sin of pride, she was made to wear a hot dog outfit by Big Brother, much to the amusement of other housemates. She was also lumbered with a big bandage on her upper right thigh after a dance move in the garden went slightly wrong (although this did help to differentiate her from Sam). And for the twosome's 19th birthday in the house, BB refused to provide them with alcohol, cake or music. But their typical chirpiness still won the day, as they sang their away through Jingle Bell Rock, and the rest of the housemates attempted a line dance, followed by musical chairs and Chinese whispers.
She kindled a romance with Brian in the second half of the series. At one point he coaxed her onto his lap and said: "She's one of the best girls ever. Amanda's such a lovely girl. She's just as much of a novice as I am. "You've always been nice to everyone. You're so modest and you never take any of this on board. That makes you even better." Brian then blurted: "I love you!" The pair cosied up in the caravan after glugging loads of cider - with Essex boy Brian declaring it "the best day ever".But that feeling didn't last. Delicate Amanda was beside herself later, muttering: "What am I going to do? Oh, this is not a good idea."
Liam 3rd Place with 19.1% of the vote to win against Brian and Amanda & Sam

Liam has become the third place runner-up in this year's Big Brother, losing out to the twins and Brian. The 23-year-old Geordie tree surgeon, who has already won the £100,000 prize money in one of the show's twists, left the house to wild screams after telling the others: "Congratulations, you've deserved it all along." In his tearful exit interview, he told Davina being picked to win the prize money had been "a mixture of emotions". He added: "I felt embarassed, I didn't feel like I deserved it." The big softie said he would use the money to help "my dad, my brother and me mam, and everybody I care about". And asked about what happened with halfway housemate Amy under the duvet he said: "There was no sexy time." Liam said he had learnt that he's a bit insensitive, that you've got to put a positive spin on everything and that "people are nice".
Ladies' man Liam found himself £100,000 richer after only a few days in the house, when he was selected by Carole, Jonathan and Seany for the cash prize. Jonathan explained to Liam why he had been picked, saying: "You're the truest, strongest, best man we've got. You're a proper, honest man. We all agreed in 10 seconds." At one point the clear favourite to win Big Brother, he was almost able to win round man-hater Nicky before the pair started bickering. Nicky confided in Tracey: "I like him, but I don't know if he thinks I'm serious, or if I'm joking." His affection for the twins won him the title of "most lustful housemate", and he was made to wear a fetish suit as punishment. A leather-clad Liam had a heart monitor attached to him, which was used to measure his fluctuating heart rate. To pass, he had to resist the advances of Big Brother and remain calm, with his heart rate having to stay below 40 per cent above his resting heart rate. Upon returning from the Diary Room, a flushed Liam told his fellow housemates: "I sat down in a chair with all this lust stuff, a chair, flowers, a platter of aphrodisiacs, bananas and figs, chocolate truffles. I was sat there, then I got a dirty phone call off them, was told to tickle myself with a feather. "Then there was this 0898 sexy number, which was like 'what are you wearing, what do you want me to do'." The group, who were in hysterics by this point, asked whether Liam had passed the task. "I didn't get the horn," he joked. The ordeal didn't stop the sex-mad contestant lusting after fake Australian housemate Pauline though. And Liam won the Cunning Linguist task hands down - when he had to name as many words for "breasts" as he could. "Baps, wangers, bazookas, Mount Everbreasts..." he reeled off.
The next newcomer to take Liam's fancy was glamour model Amy. She and Liam shared a couple of steamy moments, but days later loverboy Liam decided the romance was alienating him from the other housemates. "I thought, 'Don't let it happen' but it's happened," he confided in the Diary Room. "Amy's come in, I've spent some time with her and everyone has misconstrued it. I said to Amy, 'It's not what I want'. Everyone is reacting to me differently." Even after the former Halfway Housemate's departure, Liam was no stranger to female attention, and found himself in a compromising situation when the twins cheekily removed his shorts during a late-night swimming session.
Ziggy 4th Place with 15.3% of vote to win against Brian, Liam, Amanda and Sam.

Hunky ex-pop star Ziggy became the fourth runner-up in Big Brother 8, when he was evicted before the twins, Liam and Brian. Zak Lichman, a 26-year-old music producer from London, admitted he was "very nervous" when Davina called out his name and he quickly kissed the remaining housemates goodbye. In his emotional exit interview, Ziggy told Davina that he had worried he would be out in the first couple of weeks, adding: "I'm delighted to be fourth."
When asked about his house flame Chanelle, he turned to look at her in the audience and said: "She looks amazing, absolutely gorgeous."The pair were both reduced to tears by a montage of their relationship before Ziggy admitted the split had come because: "I didn't deal with it well." He added: "I kind of look back on the time that she left - I wish she'd stayed because I think she'd still be there." Although he denied having sex with the Posh Spice lookalike in the house, he promised there would be "a bit of sexy time, if she accepts" in future, to which Chanelle nodded.
Speaking about his relationship with house elder Carole, he said she was a "very special lady" who was his mother figure in the house, adding: "She looked after me and took care of me and she's also great fun."
On leaving the house, he was met by ecstatic female screaming, but looked shell-shocked as he walked along the catwalk in front of photographers. Ziggy was the first man to enter the Big Brother house, joining the all-female group three days into the series. Admitting before he went in that he was looking for romance, he quickly hit it off with 19-year-old Chanelle. Only a few hours after entering the house, he said in the Diary Room: "I think Chanelle is very much my type... I fancy her. She seems like a sweet girl and she's pretty." The pair enjoyed an on-off relationship throughout the show, but finally split for good after Ziggy said the immortal words "it's not you, it's me". He split up with Chanelle on one occasion because she flirted with fellow housemate Billi, then the Posh Spice wannabe decided that Ziggy rather liked Charley. "You are not sleeping in my bed any more," she roared. "You can go and stay with her!" Ladbrokes paid out £50,000 after Ziggy and Chanelle apparently shared the first Big Brother bonk, diving under the covers in the early hours of the morning. And they even had a steamy session in the shower later in the series. At one point Ziggy was the favourite to win the show with odds of 7/1, but housemates soon became tired of his and Chanelle's antics.
Once Chanelle decided to walk, life got slightly easier for Ziggy, who no longer had to deal with her tantrums, although he pined for her and was completely thrown when she popped back for a surprise visit looking stunning. But his relations with some of his fellow housemates got more tense, as Ziggy started to show his true colours. In recent weeks he fell out with his best friend Gerry, who he had bonded with over their mutual dislike of house bitches Nicky, Charley and Tracey. The pair argued after it was revealed that Gerry had been nominated by Ziggy in one of the show's many twists. And Ziggy also went through a rough patch with house mum Carole and he lost it when the luxury food budget was taken away from the housemates after Carole sneakily opened a hidden pack of biscuits. "I know you don't give a s***. I haven't eaten. I'm a lad. I need to eat. I don't understand all this p***ing around with food," he ranted at Big Brother. Last week, he upset Kara-Louise when he picked her as the worst housemate in the ratings task even though he had enjoyed dancing with her just nights before at the Finishing Academy ball. Ziggy was generally a good sport during the tasks and enjoyed hamming it up in the Aussie soap during fake week. He became one of the gurus in the mind, body and soul task and was full of enthusiasm as he and others set about cleaning 300 pairs of shoes when they travelled back in time to the Victorian days.
Carole 5th Place with 4.9% of vote to win against all other finalist
Anti-war campaigner Carole became the fifth runner-up in this year's Big Brother when she was evicted from the house. The 53-year-old Londoner gave a knowing smile when Davina called out her name and hugged the other housemates before leaving to cheers with sixth place Jonty. In her exit interview, the house elder admitted she was surprised she had stayed so long, saying: "I never thought I would be here." When probed about her obsessive cleaning, she confessed she had done it out of "boredom", adding: "I'm not at all obsessive about cleaning at home. I had nothing else to do. You don't want to keep crashing in on the younger people."
Carole picked Brian to win the show and said she had learnt lots about herself including that she can "let other people do stuff". With her hair piled into its usual topknot, she was the last of the all-female housemates to arrive on launch night, vowing she would "shake it something rotten". Carole, an unemployed sexual health worker, was so eager to star on the reality show that she auditioned for it eight years in a row. She hit it off quite well with most of the housemates, offering a shoulder to cry on and a nurturing attitude. Immediately taking over as house mum, she started putting people in their place, telling Shabnam to wash her smelly clothes and rationing the housemates ("You can't make stuff out of thin air!"). She took over cooking, cleaning and shopping, to the point that Big Brother made her wear boxing gloves to keep her from doing too much. After the housemates lost the sardine task, Carole took over the shopping list and wouldn't let anyone else write their orders. One of the biggest food rows reduced her to tears, as she slammed some of the housemates for eating fruit she wanted to save. "It's take, take, take and people don't have things at all. I thought the strawberries were being kept for another time," she moaned. And she severed all ties with Nicky for a day after one snide comment too far from the 28-year-old. "Don't be so facetious Nicky," Carole told her, before shouting that their friendship was over.
Other spats involved her falling out with Chanelle when Gerry touched her sandwich and crying over other people using her towels. Bless! But there was some fun. Carole led her team to victory in the break-dancing task, beating Shabnam and picking up her trophy from the Diary Room. She enjoyed having a natter to herself, most memorably when she was caught giving a running commentary on washing Chanelle's bunny in the bath. And she liked a swim in the pool, but got annoyed when hours of splashing around by the younger housemates made it dirty, and a no-go area as far as she was concerned. When Jonty arrived in the house the pair hit it off immediately, bonding over vegetarian cookery and politics. The two house elders discussed pastries, pies and nut roasts, and it seemed the increasingly grumpy youth worker had found herself a friend. Carole's stock hit rock bottom when she dug out some hidden contraband - - a packet of chocolate biscuits - to cheer up the others when food supplies were low. When Big Brother noticed, the housemates were yet again denied the luxury shopping budget they had won, and morale hit an all-time low.
Jonty 6th Place with 3% of vote to win against all other finalist

Jonty became the first finalist to be evicted in the live Big Brother finale, making him the sixth runner-up of this year's TV reality show. The history lover smiled when Davina announced his name and hugged the other housemates. In his exit interview, the museum assistant from London admitted to Davina that he was delighted to have stayed until the final, saying: "I thought I was going to last one week, so I've been here five times more than I thought. I was a lot more accepted than I thought I was going to be." And the 36-year-old burst into hysterical laughter when Davina quizzed him about his habit of farting openly in the house.
Jonty was originally a Halfway Housemate, allowed into the main house for only brief periods of time. He won favour though, and secured himself a place as a real housemate. The teddy bear lover got on well with Carole and the pair bonded over their vegetarianism. He alternately delighted and disgusted the other housemates with his burping, farting and childish behaviour. The 36-year-old bought some much needed spice to the house when he asked Gerry to spank him with a studded belt. Jonty was kind to Ziggy when he said that he "loved" Chanelle, and turned out to be a very sympathetic ear. "It'll be very different when you're not in here and you can see what you're about," he said. When forced to watch the housemates nominating him, he fared better than the girls and sat giggling through most of it. And he wept because he couldn't bear to nominate anyone for eviction. As Carole gave him a shoulder to cry on, he blubbed: "I hate nominations. I would so much prefer it if there was someone I really didn't get on with that I could nominate."
Jonty was delighted when his favourite bear Munkety Tunkety went on holiday for part of the postcard task. "Munkety Tunkety has only been in England," he grinned. After being reunited with the much-loved teddy he wore his 'My monkey went on holiday and all I got was this lousy T-shirt' top virtually non-stop. When it came to the etiquette task, he took it all in his stride. "Mr Jonty, can you please name three alternative posh words to use when one needs to curse?" asked Big Brother. "Crikey - if you are surprised by something. If someone says something that you believe to be inaccurate, you might choose to say balderdash. If you tripped over something you say whoopsies or indeed, whoopsy daisy."
Endlessly philosophical about eviction, he said: "When I came in, I don't remember hearing any booing. I think everybody hears different things." He hardly had a bad word to say about anyone - although he did believe the new Halfway Housemates were in one team, and the original contestants in another. "Of those five new people that came in, any opportunity to nominate it was always those five names that kept coming up," he pointed out. And he told fellow Halfway Housemate Kara-Louise: "We've never been accepted as part of the team, nobody's ever looked out for us." His fellow residents certainly didn't hold back with their criticism - the main reason for complaints were to do with his windy habits. "He's so, so irritating, sitting on the floor farting all the time," said Liam. And from supposed buddy Gerry: "Watching a 36-year-old man talking to bears and farting, it's all a little too much for me."
The Final Weekly Tasks
On Day 88, the six remaining housemates performed duets. Carole and Jonty performed Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers's "Islands in the Stream", Liam and Ziggy performed Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan's "Especially For You" and Amanda, Sam and Brian performed Katie Price and Peter Andre's "A Whole New World". On Day 89, The housemates took part in the Big Big Brother Quiz, which was based on events that had happened during the series. During this task, ex-housemate Chanelle returned as a mystery guest, who Carole and Ziggy had to identify through touch alone. On Day 90, The housemates had to design a task in pairs, the best of which would be carried out later in the day. Liam and Brian won this task. On Day 91, the housemates had to create 'Big Brother: The Movie', and were given costumes, props and a video camera in order to recreate their time in the house. On Day 92, Big Brother took the day off, and left the house in charge of one housemate. The housemate chosen to become Big Brother for the day was Jonty.
Punishments
Carole, Liam, and Ziggy were punished for discussion nominations. Their punishment came on Day 90 when Big Brother called, Jonty, Brian and The Twins to the diary room to nominate two of the three of the housemates. They nominated Ziggy and Carole but Big Brother later revealed they were playing a joke on them.
The House
The new Big Brother house - where nothing is quite as it should be. The bathtub has been placed in the middle of the living room and surrounded by multi-coloured light panels. The fridge is built into a wall at the far end of the garden. And housemates hoping for a cuppa will be in for a shock - the kettle and toaster have been locked away in a see-through cabinet and only Big Brother will decide when to open it. A Seventies-style phone sits by the sink - who exactly will be calling, and does the retro design have any significance?
But there is more to the house than meets the eye. A source said: "What you see here isn't necessarily what you get. Let's just say there are secret hidey holes and different areas that aren't immediately apparent." There could be a hidden room - or a second house altogether. The weird layout provides tantalising clues that Big Brother has some shocks in store.
There is a closed blind on the outside of the living room window - will someone be spying on the housemates? The 'kitchen' consists of a sink on one side of the living area while there is a hotplate opposite - but where is the cooker?
It took 8,000 man hours to build the house at the Elstree studios in Hertfordshire. One half of the living area is raspberry pink and the other half is baby blue. The designers have thrown in some arty references - in a tribute to Damien Hurst and his pickled shark, there is a rubber chicken split in half and suspended in clear boxes.
A Warhol-inspired target is painted on the floor. House designer Patrick Watson said: "This year we have gone for a cleaner, more adult look, using more textures and colours to brand each area."
2 Houses?
Aerial shots of the Big Brother House have been leaked which appear to show two separate gardens. The photos have set the rumour mills into motion with people wondering what producers have up their sleeves. The sneaky pictures raise the possibility that the housemates will be split up - or that another batch of housemates will live alongside them.
2006 Winner, Pete
On the 18th August 2006, with 61.2% of the Vote, Pete Bennet became the winner of Big Brother 7. Pete was the second entrant into the Big Brother house, and made an immediate impression as he tumbled down the stairs. Pete was the bookmakers' favourite throughout the duration of the series, and had the shortest odds of any Big Brother housemate at the halfway stage of any series, at 1/8.
Life After Big Brother For Pete
Since winning, he announced that he would give the £100,000 prize to his mother, so that she could pay off her mortgage.
The Daily Mirror has recently revealed that Pete has left his band Daddy Fantastic after agreeing with a record label that he should go solo. He has now split from Daddy Fantastic. Pete is currently writing music with songwriter and record producer Guy Chambers. His debut single "Cosmonaut" to be released in 2007.
Pete has also released his autobiography entitled 'Pete: My Story. Pete has also been spending time DJing at London club, Circus.
After leaving the house Pete continued his highly publicised relationship with fellow contestant Nikki Grahame but ended the relationship after a few weeks. He is now engaged to his long-time friend, Gemma "Cherry" Costin. They plan to marry on 7 July 2007 with a drag artist named Jodie Harsh singing for the guests.
