Big Brother 9 started on 5th June of Summer 2008
The 16 contestants were the biggest starting lineup in the programme’s history
On launch night 16 housemates entered the Big Brother House but in total there were in fact 21 housemates who entered the Big Brother house in summer 2008. Alex was ejected from the house on day 14 for her threatening behaviour and was replaced by Stuart on Day 16. Another housemate had to be ejected from the house on Day 23, this time it was Dennis who was removed for spitting in Mohammads face. In week 5 the house gained three new housemates Belinda, Maysoon and Sara. Maysoon walked after only a brief stay leaving in Day 56. Two days later she was replaced by Nicole, Rex's girlfriend much to his surprise. The final of the 2008 series of Big Brother took place on the 5th September, Rachel, Darnell, Rex , Sara, and Mike survived all 93 days in the house, but only one could walk away with the prize, here is the breakdown:

|
Winner is Rachel
Welsh Girl Rachel was known for being one of the nicer housemates in the show, though she was often teased by her fellow housemates as she often chose not to give opinions on matters that she considered sensitive. She also was known for the close friendships she formed with her fellow housemates Kat and Micky. Rachel's constant cheeriness and close friendship with Kat continued to alienate her from her fellow contestants during her stay. When Stuart, Rex, Mo, and Mikey were shown the housemates' VTs, Rachel became the focus of strong criticism. Rex singled her out, attacking her for behaving differently on the VT to how she acts inside the house. Rachel was announced as the winner , narrowly beating her friend Micky in the final night by 51.3% of the public vote, the unexpected winner left the house to fireworks and streamers.

Runner Up: Micky
Micky was known for speaking his mind and standing up to those he disagreed with in the house. He locked horns with Alex and Nicole during their short spells on the show, and constantly challenged Rex when he thought he was being unreasonable. Mikey and Rex had a tempestuous relationship, with Mikey accusing the chef of treating him unfairly in the Thriller dance task, and Rex complaining that Mikey didn't pull his weight. As the show's first blind contestant, Mikey encountered differing attitudes from various housemates. Certain tasks proved more challenging, and some housemates proved more helpful that others. Mario called a health and safety meeting to discuss the things that could cause problems for Mikey - a move which Steph felt was smothering Mikey - while Rachel helped out during the Michael Jackson task. He finished the series in second place with 48.7% of the public vote.

3rd In Final: Sara
Sara confessed to Rebecca she had a massive crush on Stuart. She set about flirting with him in a bid to win him over - but even her incessant eyelash batting failed to get him to really notice her. Although Stuart appeared pleased to be lavished with compliments, Darnell was far from happy with all the time Sara devoted to Stu. The pair no longer spoke to one another after Sara hopped out of Darnell's bed and into Stuart's in week nine. Darnell was so embarrassed by her rejection and her claims he wanted to have sex with her, he jumped over the barrier into Hell, where he slept for the night. They later tried to clear the air, with Sara brushing off the situation by insisting she had been joking around - but Darnell was deeply hurt. Finally, in the penultimate week Rex and Darnell were reprimanded by Big Brother for bullying Sara, after Channel 4 was flooded with over 1,500 complaints. On Day 84 Sara and Lisa played the prisoner's dilemma and shared £50,000. Sara finished the series in third place with 30.1% of the public vote.

4th in Final Rex
Rex quickly became the number one enemy amongst the house's younger 'fun' clique, who branded him 'obnoxious'. He landed himself in the middle of several heated arguments, including disagreements over the weekly shopping list, which he initially tried to control. Rex came under fire once again in a particularly explosive row, which escalated after Rex rubbed pizza on Jen's portrait of Stu. Rex was reunited with his girlfriend, who entered the store room as a special surprise. But Nicole was certainly more a pain than prize. The chef look stunned after his 'princess' ran into the house - but he later revealed her presence in the house had 'screwed up' his game plan. During her three weeks in the house, Nicole and Rex repeatedly argued. When left in charge of the shopping list in his final week, he snubbed food for a haul of 57 pointless and wacky items. Rex received the most nominations out of all the series being voted a total of 29 times.Rex finished the series in fourth place with 22.5% of the public vote.
Remembered for: His arrogant attitude |

5th in Final Darnell
The albino songwriter entered the house wearing a hoodie emblazoned with the words: 'Don't label me, respect me'. And from the moment he stepped his slipper-clad foot into the house, he was determined to shake off any stereotypes and earn the respect of his fellow housemates - and the nation. Darnell didn't need to play up to the cameras, because his honesty and his genuineness made a lasting impression. He shocked the whole house when he confronted lovable geek Luke and accused him of being a gossip and spreading rumours. Darnell was so embarrassed by the Aussie's rejection and her claims he wanted to have sex with her that he refused to speak to her properly for days. The pair continued to feud in the following days, with Darnell calling Sara an 'ugly *****' and accusing her of sleeping with dozens of men. He later admitted he was still reeling from the night she ditched him to jump into bed with Stu. He apologised to Sara - but later began picking on her again, explaining he was looking for revenge after Sara's repeated rejections. Darnell knew he didn't care if he won or not - because winning the public's approval was the best prize he could ever ask for. Darnell finished the series in fifth place with 14.9% of the public vote.

Kathreya: Evicted on Day 90
During her time in the house, Kat had irritated Luke and Lisa in particular with her trademark Happy House singing, and Mario was less than impressed by her tendency to cry easily. Luke, Lisa and Mario soon branded Kat "fake".Her love of cookies was evident throughout the series, right from the moment she entered the house with a cookie jar shouting "cookie power". Kat became very close friends with Rachel in the house much to the annoyance of the rest of the housemates as they were seen as too happy and nice. In her other best moments, Kat sometimes confided in the swan tap in the bathroom. Kat was never put up for eviction by her housemates. She was an early favourite to win Big Brother, and the housemates were shocked by her eviction. On Day 90, Kathreya was the 13th person to be evicted, in a surprise eviction, from the house after receiving 4.9% of the public vote to win, and finished in sixth place.

Mohamad: Evicted on Day 90
The self-confessed couch potato's time in the house saw him spend most of his time eating, lounging around, looking longingly at female housemates and spending time in the BB jail. He won himself the nickname "Greedy Mo" after being accused of wolfing down leftovers and not sharing. Early on in his Big Brother story, Mo was at the centre of friction which led to both Alexandra and Dennis leaving the house. Alex rowed with him over his cross-dressing at his birthday party, and she was later kicked out for her behaviour. He then saw dancer Dennis leave after he was accused of spitting in Mo's face. Mo turned his attentions to a number of female housemates, although they never seemed to like him back. He told Maysoon he fancied her when he was drunk and shared snogs with both Bex and Sara.On Day 90 Mohamed was the twelfth person to be evicted from the house, finishing seventh with the lowest percentage of the vote to win, 1.8%, in the final week.

Lisa: Evicted on Day 86
Lisa entered the house with her boyfriend Mario, for the first week she had to pretend not to know Mario as part of a sesret task, instead she had to watch as Mario and Stephanie tried to convince fellow housemates that they were a real couple. Lisa had to watch on as
Mario proposed to Stephanie and even attended the hen party and wedding. On Day 58 Lisa decided to escape from the house after the arrival of Nicole because she was missing Mario. She broke through an emergency exit, but because she had not left the Big Brother compound, she was allowed to return to the house. On Day 81 her partner, Mario, returned to the house and proposed to Lisa. She said yes. On Day 84 Sara and Lisa played the prisoner's dilemma and shared £50,000. Lisa was the eleventh housemate to be evicted on Day 86 with 52.6% of the public vote.

Nicole: Evicted on Day 79
Nicole entered the house on Day 58. Nicole had previously been in the task room the week before becoming a housemate, as part of the Cops and Robbers shopping task. She was in a line up of actors with Mohamed's brother. Lisa and Luke had to identify Rex's girlfriend, however they failed to identify Nicole and instead chose suspect number 6. Nicole entered the house as the last of the 57 special prizes housemates ordered on their weekly shopping list. On her first night in the house, Nicole crossed the divide and was subsequently punished by Big Brother who withheld her suitcase until the following week, when it was bought by Head of
House Rachel at a cost of £20. Nicole was the tenth housemate to be evicted on Day 79 with 94.04% of the vote, the highest eviction percentage in Big Brother UK history.
Remembered for: Her surprise entrance into the house for her boyriend Rex, being a spoilt little madam |

|
Stuart: Evicted on Day 72
Stuart entered the Big Brother house on Day 16, as a replacement for Alexandra and immediately struck up a friendship with Sylvia and Jen, who both hinted that they fancied him. On Day 18, he was the centre of attention again when he was used as a model for a life drawing task. He later crowned Jen the winner. Jen speculated on several occasions that Stuart may have been placed in the house to stir things up with her relationship with Dale. She described Stu on one occasion as her "ideal partner". Stu repeatedly told housemates during his final weeks that he didn't want to be in the compound any longer and that he was missing his daughter. His exit was probably more memorable than his stay in the house. Claiming that people had shouted "Jump! Jump!" to him, Stuart did precisely that only for everyone to move clear out of the way. With only the concrete floor to break his fall, it was a case of 'ouch!' Possibly one the most embarrassing exits ever. Stuart was the ninth person to be evicted from the house on Day 72 with 59% of the public vote.
Remembered for: His guyliner and sixpack |

Dale: Evicted on Day 65
Dale told Jen from Day One that he liked her - and the couple indulged in an on/off affair.
The couple spent a lot of time together in the early days, frolicking in the pool and having
late night chats on the sofa. But hunky newcomer Stu burst Dale's bubble when he replaced axed housemate Alex. Jen told Dale Stu had all the qualities she looks for in a man. And that was the start of Big Brother's triangle. It was soon cut short after Jen was evicted in week ?.Little did Dale know that Jen was to watch his audition tape live on E4, in his audition Dale bragged, "If there's any fanny in there, I'm gonna nail it. Especially if they're fit!" Jen was not impressed! Dale was gutted when Jen left but soon picked himself up and became quite close friends with Staurt. Dale became the eighth housemate to be evicted on Day 65 with 63% of the vote.

|
Luke: Evicted on Day 58
While on Big Brother, Luke celebrated his 21st Birthday, Luke was presented with a surprise party in a French-themed wine cellar, where he partied with Darnell, Dale and Bex. And the guest of honour was given a special surprise when his mum and dad appeared on a TV screen to wish him a happy 21st. Luke was one of the bitchiest housemates and managed to find a bitching partner in Rebecca and the pair frequently popped into the Diary Room to dish the dirt on their least favourite housemates. Luke's flirtation with Bex continued, the others were convinced the pair had romantic feelings for one another - a claim the duo repeatedly denied. But in week five they shared a passionate kiss under the covers - and the clinch led to several more steamy snogs in the following days. After Bex and Mohamed kissed as part of a party game in week seven, he realised he had actually fallen for her. But their budding romance was cut short - as Bex was evicted just days later. Luke became the seventh housemate to be evicted on Day 58 with 37% of the public vote.

Belinda was determined to make a name for herself in the Big Brother house - and so she repeated hers in triplicate. Upon meeting Stuart, she said, 'My name is Belinda, Belinda, Belinda - I say it three times so you don't forget it!'Belinda grated on quite a few
housemates with her annoying Jazz singing voice. Belinda was also constantly criticised by the housemates for her loud snoring during her short stint in the house. Her nocturnal rumblings were so loud, in fact, that eternally happy housemates Kat and Rachel finally
found something to complain about. Micky said she was 'the biggest nosey parker I have ever met in my entire life'. Belinda was the fifth housemate to be evicted on Day 44 with 65% of the public vote, after just two weeks of being in the house.

|
Jennifer: Evicted on Day 30
The part-time model did a lot in her four weeks in the house; she attracted the affections
of half of the male house (Dale, Stu and Luke) and struck up a friendship with Big Stripper
Bex. And she was also at the centre of most of the house's rows, including Chip-gate and
that heated row of her portrait of Stu, which ended when her pal Dennis was thrown out for 'unacceptable behaviour'. Jen and Dale had an on/off relationship during their time in the house. And although Jen never admitted to fancying Dale, she spent an awful lot of time in his bed in her final week. Jennifer was the third housemate to be evicted on Day 30, with 89.7% of the public vote
Remembered for: Her face as Stuart walked into house, "pizzagate" when rex put pizza on her painting |

|
Sylvia: Evicted on Day 23
Sylvia quickly became a sidekick to Big Brother bully Alex in her first few days in the house. She also regularly enjoyed rows with Mikey and Luke - the only two willing to stand up to her bad attitude. But following Alex's departure, Sylvia showed us her, er, "sensitive" side. Following the arrival of Alex's replacement Stu, Sylvia was a girl in love. Despite the fact that she had a boyfriend of four years at home - she jumped into bed with Stu on his first night. But Stu had to let Sylvia down gently after two days of irrational bunny boiling behaviour. Sylvia was the second housemate to be evicted on Day 23 with 90.2% of the vote.

Dennis: Ejected from House on Day 23
Scottish dancer Dennis seemed the perfect Big Brother contestant. But he was removed for unacceptable behaviour following an argument which resulted from a prank played by Rex. During the altercation, Dennis spat in the face of fellow housemate Mohamed and Big Brother subsequently booted him out.. Neither he nor Alexandra were allowed to appear on the final night with the rest of the housemates.

Alex created a large amount of controversy due to her aggressive nature and was accused of bullying. Alex very quickly became the least popular housemate among viewers and during the first eviction night many of the crowd were chanting "Get Alex out!. Alex was ejected on day 14 for her constant aggressive behaviour. The last straw for producers to make the decision to eject her came after Alex being nominated and she went on to threaten fellow housemates, saying: "I'm not throwing water at anyone. It's bigger than that... personal offence is never forgotten, do you know what I mean? We are just inside the house. I've got a very, very, very, very, very strong team outside the house. I just can't wait to see my mans and them and see what their plans are, who they got... I'm not talking about those mans, I'm talking about my gangster friends. They got some instructions to follow out." Neither she nor Dennis were allowed to appear on the final night with the rest of the housemates.
Remembered for: Being the most hated housemate |

Stephanie: Evicted on Day 9
On Day 1, along with fellow housemates Mario, Lisa, and Luke, Stephanie was given a secret mission to hide the relationship between housemates Mario and Lisa; as part of this task she was required to pretend to be Mario's girlfriend. In her role, she was required to marry Mario thinking that it was a genuine wedding; unbeknownst to her, the marriage was not actually real. Stephanie did not get on well with Mario, which resulted in several arguments between the two of them, one of which resulted in Mario calling Stephanie a haemorrhoid. Stephanie was nominated during Week 1 because the housemates discovered Mario and Lisa's relationship, failing in her task to hide it. She became the first housemate to be evicted on Day 9 with 48% of the public vote.
